Drawing from our expertise within the Oil & Gas Sector and our experience of delivering projects in remote regions of the world, Trant were awarded this Design, Build and Commissioning project for the installation and handover of a six million litre Aviation Fuel Storage Tank and associated infrastructure at the Catherine Point Petroleum Supply Depot (PSD) in Ascension Island.
The Project
Enabling works required the demolition of three existing 1.5M litre storage tanks originally constructed in the 1970’s, one having contained leaded fuel. Revisions to process pipework were also necessary to temporarily redirect fuel supply during the works and enable the connection of permanent pipework towards the end of the contract to supply Wideawake Airfield. The replacement 6 million litre aviation fuel storage tank was constructed complete with a reinforced concrete containment bund to prevent the risk of environmental contamination. All works were designed for seismic loading conditions. A full HAZOP study was also completed for the new works.
