We are now seeking to recruit a Control Room Operator to strengthen our team delivering our Falklands Power Plant project. This role is for a skilled Commissioning Operator, to deliver the commissioning activities of a project through to a successful handover.

 As the Control Room Operator, you will bring demonstrable dual discipline commissioning experience and practical skills to a small team. Working closely with the on-site Commissioning Manager, you will ensure that all commissioning activities are executed to meet the project schedule requirements in a safe and effective manner. You will be accountable for the efficiency, quality and safe activities of the operational aspects of the project you are working on. You will lead designated operational activities within the agreed constraints of time, quality and cost, whilst maintaining the relationships with the client’s operational staff and contractors, ensuring an excellent Health Safety and Environmental performance.

The Commissioning Operator will work 6 days each week whilst in the Falkland’s and will work rotations. A competitive daily rate is available.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that works within area of responsibility are executed in accordance with the contract and conform with project time requirements
  • Independently operate, monitor, and maintain power station systems according to the scope of responsibility, in the control room and on site
  • Update and maintain shift logs and maintenance regimes
  • Optimise processes in collaboration with the Commissioning Team
  • Liaise and coordinate with other project team members, in particular the Commissioning Manager and Commissioning Lead Engineers
  • Records all operational events in the shift logbook
  • Participate in regular control tours throughout the plant
  • Report any variations and issues to the Commissioning Manager
  • Deliver Lessons Learned and feedback for current and future projects
  • Keep the Commissioning Manager / Site Manager informed of all site-related activities

Qualifications, competencies and skills:

  • Minimum 5 to 10 years cumulatively in power generation, with minimum 2 to 5 years as a Control Room Operator (CRO), systems
  • Experience in monitoring plans and reactive to processes  
  • Experienced in Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) management and has knowledge of relevant HSEQ legal requirements
  • Flexibility, ability to travel and work shift pattern or site hours
  • Client & Stakeholder interface
